Hilary La Force

Hilary La Force is a longstanding Cultural activist.  He has been a member of the Folk Research Centre for decades and served as Chairman of the Board from 2005 to 2013.  Hilary is a professional Agriculturalist cum Banker. He worked with the Ministry of Agriculture before being seconded to the Agricultural and Industrial Bank (AIB). When the AIB merged with the Housing Bank to form the St. Lucia Development Bank (SLDB), he continued to provide service to that institution up to when the SLDB merged with the National Commercial Bank (NCB) to form the Bank of St. Lucia (BOSL).  Hilary was seconded from BOSL to manage the Banana Emergency Recovery Unit (BERU).  On completion of his assignment with the BERU, he was employed with the re-established  St Lucia Development Bank where he headed the Service Delivery Department.

Hilary has been a Board member of the Cultural Development Foundation since 2007.  He currently heads the Folk Research Centre.  A celebrated storyteller and folk musician, Hilary has travelled widely sharing the folk culture of St Lucia throughout the region.  He began both passions at a young age and quickly distinguished himself as a master storyteller and kwòtro and guitar player and vocalist.

He was a band member of The Lucians, which was much sought after and he has shared the stage with folk luminaries such as Frank Norville and Augustin Julian.
